Lorraine, Born November 26, 1927 in Presto, Idaho the youngest of 8 children to Chris and Jane Peterson, passed from this earthly life September 23, 2017 in Meridian, Idaho at the age of 89.
She grew up as a farmer’s daughter on a small farm in Firth, Idaho meeting her husband Von in the 5th grade when his family moved to Firth. They graduated together from Firth High School in 1947 with a class of thirty-one students.
Lorraine and Von were high school sweethearts and married on September 17, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Through their 70 years of marriage, celebrated just this past week, they lived in Firth, ID; Logan, UT; Kent and Kennewick, WA; and the last 50 years in Boise, ID.
Lorraine was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She kept an immaculate home, a beautiful garden, and was a prolific quilting artist, making hundreds of beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and many others, even selling some near temple square in Salt Lake City. Lorraine had a love for music and passed that love on to many others. She was a self-less person and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, always looking for and finding ways to serve others, even serving as far away as Lagos, Nigeria alongside her eternal companion Von as a missionary for 18 months.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; son, Douglas Ray; grandson, Clayton; and great grandson, John Swisher V.
She is survived by her husband, Von; children, Marlene Roscheck, Jerry, Thane (LaDawn), Cheryl (Ron) Boman, Vicky (Lance) Johnson, Denice (Scott) Thornton, Kevin, daughter-in-law Lorie; thirty-three grandchildren; and sixty-three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Summerwind LDS Ward Chapel, 11443 McMIllan Rd., Boise. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the services from 10:00 a.m.–10:45 a.m. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
