Doreen Long passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017. She was at home in Meridian, Idaho, surrounded by family.
Doreen was born on July 5, 1935 in Murray, Utah. She was the fifth and youngest child of Raymon John Loveall and Nona Larue Richardson Loveall. She was raised in West Jordan, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School in 1953.
Married in 1954, she had four children, Angela, Scott, Irene and Jeffrey. Devoted to her children, she selflessly, courageously, and singularly supported and provided them with a blessed and safe home. In 1967, she met and married William (Bill) Long, the love of her life, and had two more children, William Dean and Jennifer. Doreen and Bill’s 50th Wedding Anniversary is September 23, 2017.
Doreen and Bill lived in Sandy, Utah and Kennewick, Washington before settling in Boise, Idaho, in 1972. Doreen was active in her church and her children and grandchildren’s school activities and sports. She was blessed with twenty-nine grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren. Doreen had a unique ability to make every grandchild and great-grandchild feel special and loved. She treated each child as an extraordinary gift.
Doreen was a devoted and adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She lived a full and meaningful life, made complete through the love of family. She was dedicated to her family whom she cherished, nurtured, and loved unconditionally. This love was the thread that united her family.
Doreen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a spiritual woman and loved her Savior and the Church. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know her. Proverbs 31:10 states: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Byron and Wayne Loveall. She is survived by her loving husband, William Long; sons, Scott Erekson (Laurie), Jeffrey Erekson (Christina), William Dean Long (Heidi); daughters, Angela Elliott (Ernest), Irene Law (Bryan), Jennifer Rose (Ryan); twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren and five great- grandchildren on the way; sisters, Geraldine Gillette, Lois Buckway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, at the LDS Chapel at 8625 S. Linder Rd., Meridian. Family will greet friends at the same location on Tuesday, September 19, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and also on Wednesday, September 20, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements are under the care of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
