Edward Junior Berg

September 9, 1928 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Edward Junior Berg, 89, passed away in his home on Nov. 11, 2017, in the company of his family.

This year, Edward’s health slowly declined to a rapid finish. He loved his surroundings here in Boise and will be placed to rest next to his wife of 43 years, Marjorie.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, three wives, one brother, Melvin Clark Perry Berg, and two sisters, Anne Silvia Shirley and Wilma Marie Rebich.

Edward was born Sept. 9, 1928, to Edward K. Berg and Clara Elizabeth Perry. His life is celebrated by his children, first wife Shirley Stuart’s children, Roger Knoell, Ron Knoell and Shirley Johnson, from Butte, MT, and second wife Marjorie Casey’s children, Robert Berg and wife Leanna, Marjorie Dayley and husband Craig, from Boise, ID, and Edward Berg Jr. III and wife Josefina, Bonny Lake, WA.

Edward’s grandchildren from his second marriage: Stefanie O’Neill from Puyallup, WA, Brandon Berg from Burley, ID, and Edward B. Berg and Andrew N. Berg from Bonny Lake, WA. Great-grandchildren: Titus O’Neill and Destynee O’Neill from Puyallup, WA, Margaret Berg, Tylor Berg and Jessica Berg from Mountain Home, ID, and Cody Berg from Burley, ID.

Edward was married to Shirley Stuart, Marjorie Casey and Helen Bonar.

Edward grew up living in Montana and has worked or lived throughout the northwest and southwest regions of America and also in the Great Lakes area of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
One of Edward’s passions was working with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts organizations in Montana and Idaho as well as other volunteer work in the communities he lived in. He was a strong believer in American patriotism, having served for a short while in the US Navy as a teen in 1945. In his life, he has had over 24 occupations. His favorite was cowboying and ranching. Edward was a stern but fair man and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.

To Leanna Berg, for her years of selfless service in taking care of Edward, a deep-hearted thank you for being the caregiver and making his life comfortable. We all love you.

To many, he was an enigma. To his children, he is dad or papa! Thank you, dad, for always being there when needed. We love you and will miss you dearly.

Services will be held Friday, November 17, 11:00 a.m., at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, with a viewing before the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service with military honors will be held at Terrace Lawns Memorial Gardens, 4225 E. Fairview Ave., Meridian.
