Susan Marie Evans

April 12, 1953 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 64) 64 Years Old
Susan Marie Evans passed away peacefully in her home in Boise on December 16, 2017.

Susan was born on April 12, 1953, at the original Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She was welcomed into this world by her parents, Harold and Virginia Reckmeyer, and her two sisters, Catherine and Patricia.

Growing up on the Boise bench, Susan attended neighborhood schools: Monroe Elementary, South Junior High, and Borah High School. She graduated from Borah in 1971. During her school years, music was an important part of her life. She participated in a citywide choral group and played the piano. In high school, she played the bass clarinet in both the concert band and marching band. Throughout this time, she won numerous awards at the Boise Music Festival.

Susan began her first job at the McDonalds restaurant on Orchard Street in Boise, while she was still in high school. After graduation, she attended Links School of Business, where she learned to work with computers before being recruited by the Idaho Air National Guard. She worked at the Air Guard for a year and then started working for the local telephone company, Mountain Bell, where she worked for 30 years before retiring.

In 1972, Susan married Scott Condit, and their daughter Andrea was born in 1974. They moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, briefly before returning to Boise and separating. Later she met her second husband, Greg Jewell, while white water rafting. They were married in 1981 and welcomed their son Tyrell in 1983 before separating a few years later. In her later years with the phone company, she moved around a bit, preferring to spend her time in smaller communities including Walla Walla, Washington, and Fruitland, Idaho. After retirement, she moved to Indian Valley, Idaho, with her third husband, Ben Evans. Later, she moved to Challis, Idaho, to be closer to her son and grandson.

Susan is survived by her children Andrea Covarrubias of Boise and Tyrell Jewell of Idaho City, her grandchildren Kaitlyn Graham and Tell Jewell, and her sisters Pat Welch and Cathy Reckmeyer.
