Almeta Joyce Spears passed away in a Boise, Idaho, care center on April 19, 2020. Joyce was born in Lockney, Texas, to William Alvin Wilson and Alvie Maranda Wilson. Joyce grew up on the family farm outside of Lockney, Texas, and she graduated from Lockney High School in 1950. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, George William Spears, on January 6, 1951. They had three sons: William C. Spears, Gary W. Spears and Scott D. Spears. Joyce was a loving wife and mother and provided her sons with a safe and happy home. Joyce worked at the Floyd County Hesperian newspaper and also as a bookkeeper for Newell Burk, CPA, in Floydada, Texas. The family moved to Colorado when George began his career in automotive parts sales with Bowman Products. After being promoted to district sales manager in 1973, they relocated to Seattle, Washington. In 1979, George continued his career in sales management with Bowman Products, and the family moved to Boise, Idaho. In 1981, Joyce and George opened an automotive parts and fastener business, Idaho Standard Parts. While helping George operate Idaho Standard Parts, Joyce also worked full time as a bookkeeper for Stein Distributing in Boise. Together, Joyce and George built Idaho Standard Parts into a successful business with customers all across southern Idaho, from Weiser to the Magic Valley and eastern Idaho as far as Idaho Falls. Joyce and George operated Idaho Standard Parts until George’s passing in 2013. Joyce loved animals and over the years cherished the family’s dogs and cats; she also tolerated the occasional hamster, gerbil, guinea pig, salamander and garter snake. Joyce enjoyed watching college and professional football. Her favorite teams included the BSU Broncos, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Denver Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. Joyce was an avid reader of mystery and crime novels. Joyce is survived by her son, Scott D. Spears (Laure) of Boise; two grandchildren, John W. Spears (Gladys) of Nevada, and Angela L. Spears (Kent) of Washington; and four great-grandchildren, Raheem Spears, Michael Spears, Kazi Spears and Greyson Spears. Joyce is also survived by one brother, James Gail Wilson (Marilyn) of Texas and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband George Spears, her parents and her sons William C. Spears and Gary W. Spears.

A Memorial Service is to be held on June 19, 2020, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to the Idaho Humane Society in Joyce’s name.
