Barbara Diana Montgomery

Barbara Diana Montgomery (Nicholls) passed away October 31, 2018 in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 60. Barbara was born March 16, 1958, in Dusseldorf, Germany, to parents Albert and Elisabeth Nicholls. She grew up in Furth and Neuberger, Germany, where she attend gymnasium, the most advanced of the German education system, similar to a college degree in the U.S. On October 3, 1975, she was married to Carlos Montgomery, SSG E6. The two recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. They met at a local swimming pool, fell in love and married in Furth, Germany. The first years of their marriage were spent in Germany, where two of their children, Robert and Steven, were born. Later, the family moved when Carlos was redeployed to Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1982, they returned to Nuremberg, Germany, and their third son, Jeffery, was born. It was in 1986 that Carlos was redeployed to the United States and Barbara left Germany for the final time with her husband and three boys. The next six years the family was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Barbara spent her time working on the base as well as raising the rambunctious boys. Kevin, their fourth son, was born and Carlos was again redeployed and the family eventually ended up in Boise, Idaho, in 1992. The couple settled in Boise, calling it home. In October of 1994, Diana, the fifth of their children, was born and the family was complete with the daughter Barbara had always wanted.

Barbara was mother to five children who she raised to be adults. She always had an open door to any of her children. Barbara enjoyed needle work, floral arranging, reading books and cooking. She had a talent for growing plants, gardens and flowers. Her home was always filled with beautiful house plants. Barbara took time to send cards on special occasions and make her children and grandchildren feel special. She loved spending mother-daughter time with Diana. As grandchildren came along, she welcomed them all and loved spending time and displaying photos of each one of them.

Barbara is survived by husband Carlos; sons Robert, Steven and his wife Laurie, Jeffery and his wife Kaela, Kevin and his wife Jessa; daughter Diana; her younger sister Monica Debra Gonzales and husband Mario Gonzales of Texas; and 11 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents Albert and Elisabeth.

Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018, 3:00 p.m., at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, Idaho 83706.
