Retired Senior Master Sergeant Bob Ross Busby (often referred to as “Buzz”), 83, of Boise, passed away on May 20, 2022, at his home. Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, and special friend to so many, was the kindest soul you will ever meet. He had a generous heart, an infectious laugh, and a smile that would light up a room. He had an incredible passion for life and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Bob was born December 28, 1938, to Vernon Ross Busby and Clara Louise Abelhouzen, in Salt Lake City, Utah. A graduate of C.K. McClatchy Senior High School in Sacramento, California, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1956 at the age of 18. He moved to Boise in his early 20’s and met the love of his life, Barbara Masini. They were married for 18 years and raised 3 daughters.
Bob’s military career spanned from 1956 to 1991, in the Air Force and Idaho Air National Guard, from Foreman, to Mechanic, to Crew Chief, to Senior Master Sergeant. He received countless awards throughout his time in the service, including The Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service from 1965 to 1991.
Bob enjoyed watching and playing many sports. In his early days, he played basketball (guard), baseball (2nd baseman), and bowled (won countless trophies). Later he became an avid golfer. Some of his favorite sports teams were the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Celtics, and Boise State Broncos. Bob was also a NASCAR enthusiast. His absolute favorite pastime and hardest to give up was dancing, particularly the Jitterbug. No one could hold a candle to how he and our Mom Jitterbugged.
In spite of the numerous health issues Bob faced as he got older, he always had a positive outlook on life. He was incredibly appreciative of the help and support he received over these past few years. His family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people who supported him.
He is predeceased by his father, Vernon Ross Busby and his mother Clara Louise Abelhouzen, his brother Fred Busby, and his sister Carol St. Pierre. Bob is survived by his 3 daughters, Lynn Stewart, Robin Cazan, and Angelina Masini; 6 grandchildren, Aubrey Stewart, Landon Stewart, Christopher Busby, Emma Terman, Carson Sloan, and Madison Sloan; 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson Terman and Lola Terman; and many, many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2nd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah St., Boise, with an open casket viewing from 9:30-10:20am, church services at 10:30am followed by a procession to Morris Hill Cemetery, 317 N.
