B. Gary Ard was born in St. Anthony, Idaho on August 2, 1951 to Clarence Orval and Vera Inez (Reif) Ard. Gary's story begins with his grandfather, Orval Ard, who left his birth country of Scotland and emigrated to the United States with some other family members. Eventually, Orval moved to Clementsville, Teton County, Idaho and purchased land by Canyon Creek to herd sheep and dry farm. Gary's dad, Clarence, took over the farm after Orval's death. Gary and his siblings spent the warm months of the year living on the farm in Teton County and attending school in a single-room classroom. After Gary's 8th grade year, the single-room school closed down. In the winter, Gary's family would move to St. Anthony, Idaho to attend school and live in a house built by his father. He graduated from South Fremont High School in St. Anthony on May 18, 1970. After graduation, Gary moved to Boise, Idaho so he could attend Boise State University. He graduated with an Associate of Applied Science on December, 22, 1977. Gary was also drafted into the military, but was released due to injuries sustained from a previously broken neck. While in Boise, he met his wife Cheryl J. (Dice) and they were married on December 15, 1980 at a local church. Gary loved to fix and build things. He took up a career as a Remodeling Contractor. He also loved doing yard work, inventing things, reading, taking pictures, doing family history research on the computer, drawing and painting, helping others do advertising, and fixing up old cars. Gary was a member of the Eagle Rock Masonic Lodge No. 19 in Idaho Falls for 39 years. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Henrietta Chapter #21.
