Carmen Kay (Kitty) Johnson, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away October 23, 2018. Kitty was 84 years young. Born to Philip and Katherine Gittings on June 6, 1934, Kitty grew up and attended schools in Prineville, Oregon.
Following high school, Kitty married and also served in the U.S. Army during 1953 and 1954. Following her service, Kitty moved to Boise and on May 8, 1955, she gave birth to a son, Steven Philip Poe.
Following a divorce, Kitty worked at various jobs in the Boise area and on October 1, 1963, she married Richard (Dick) Johnson. Dick and Kitty were a great match. They raised Steven, worked hard, camped, fished, and hunted together.
Kitty was an area director for Sarah Coventry. She later owned and operated a consignment store in Meridian, and then operated her own bookkeeping and tax preparation service until her retirement. Kitty was a great cat lover and always had one or two or three 4-legged fur persons. She was interested in senior issues and served as president of the Garden City Senior Citizens Center in 1996 and 1997. She also had a lifelong interest in stamp collecting, and family history.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents Phil and Katherine Gittings, a brother Roger Gittings, and her husband Dick. She is survived by her son Steven Poe of Boise, a brother Patrick Gittings of Meridian, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 W. Hill Rd., Boise.
