It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, Claude Brown Jr. Surrounded by his family, he returned to his heavenly home on February 26, 2019, due to complications from heart surgery. Claude was born on September 2, 1931, to Claude Wood Brown and Mary Magdelene Jones Brown and was the fifth of five children. He was born in Pocatello Idaho and spent most of his childhood in Blackfoot Idaho. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1949. He was an exceptional athlete and lettered in both football and basketball. After graduating, he was drafted into the Navy and served four years in the Korean War. He loved serving his country. When he completed his service, he married the love of his life, LaRue Farnes in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 8, 1955. He began college at Utah State University and after 2 years of pre-dental was accepted to Washington University dental school in St Louis, Missouri. He graduated from dental school in 1961 with honors. Claude spent his life in the service of others and our Father in Heaven. He served in several capacities throughout his life and loved his experiences as he served diligently in various callings in the church. He loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed many adventures in the outdoors. He was so good with his hands. He could fix anything and take on any project. Claude was an avid Utah State Aggies fan and rarely missed a game. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and family. Claude was respected and loved by all who knew him. He was kind and sensitive to the needs of others and had a great sense of humor. He made friends everywhere he went and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We look forward to the day when we see him again. Claude was preceded in death by his father, Claude Wood Brown, and his mother, Mary Magdelene Jones Brown; along with his siblings, Virgil Brown, Rhea Jean Duckworth, Marjorie Steed and Barbara Van Orden. The family would like to thank the staff from Saint Alphonsus and Intermountain Healthcare for their loving care during the last few weeks of his life. The viewing will be Monday, March 4, from 6:00-7:30 at Relyea Mortuary 318 N. Latah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building located at 2323 N Maple Grove. The family will also greet friends 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
