Douglas Charles Roberts

Douglas Charles Roberts, 86, of Boise, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Doug was born August 17, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to Farrell and LaPriel Roberts. He spent his childhood in Garfield, Utah, a Kennecott Copper town. Doug married Muriel Memmott February 11, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended the University of Utah briefly and finished his education obtaining Bachelor of Science and Master in Computer Science degrees from the University of Laverne. He spent his career in the aerospace industry employed with Aerojet, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Xerox. He worked in the space program on solar panels for the Mariner and Viking Mars missions as part of the launch team. His hobbies included home beautification, skilled woodwork, masonry, welding and, in his words, “hard work.” He could fix almost anything, even in the days before YouTube. He also had interest in new computer technologies and electronics. After working and residing in California for 45 years, Doug and Muriel retired to Boise, Idaho.

Doug was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in the North Central States Mission. He also served in various callings throughout his life, both on ward and stake leadership. He had a heart full of compassion and much of his time was spent serving others. He was a temple worker for over 20 years in the Los Angeles and Boise temples.

Doug and Muriel are the parents of five children, Troy (Connie) Roberts of Kuna, Lisa (Ken) Kirtley of Rancho Cucamonga, Jill Roberts of Boise, Stephanie (Brian) Scott of Meridian. He has 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four older siblings, and his son Brandon Roberts.

Services will be held June 24, 11:00 am, at the LDS Chapel, 6575 S. Eagle Rd, Meridian, Idaho. Visitation with the family at 10:15 am. He will be interred at the Kuna Cemetery.
