Ellis Ryan Jett

Ellis Ryan Jett (EJ) died on March 8, 2018 in Boise ID at the age of 70. He struggled with poor health and a recent diagnosis of cancer and heart failure. Ellis was born on November 8, 1947 in Aberdeen, SD. His immediate family lived in Selby, SD until 1956, when he claims his parents “kidnapped” him and moved to CA. Settling in Simi Valley, CA. Ellis graduated from Simi Valley High School. He was drafted in 1967 into the Army and served in C Battery 1/84th Artillery 9th Infantry SP 4 (T). After the army he attended Moorpark Community College, Liberal Arts; and Pierce Community College, Business Administration. Ellis made and kept three oaths in his life; the Boy Scouts, the Army, and his marriage. He was a good man, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ellis was married to Faye Thomason-Baldwin on March 14, 1971; they were together for 47 years. They started their married life in CA, and wanting a change, the opportunity to move presented to him, and he chose Boise, ID. Ellis chose to make his career in the lumber industry. He has worked for several businesses, in CA; Winfield Lumber, Neiman-Reid Lumber City, in ID; Georgia Pacific, Wolf Creek Lumber Company, Oregon Pacific Building Products, Jett Construction, and Franklin Building Supply. He enjoyed being a salesman, helping Idaho lumber yards throughout southern Idaho. He was a creative wood worker making many beautiful pieces of furniture. He was also an admirer of the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and many family gatherings. Ellis was also a supporter of several charities with our Veterans, Fire departments, Police departments and Idaho foodbanks in the Treasure Valley. Ellis is survived by his wife Faye; their children Jennifer Jett-Rich and Erron Ryan Jett; grandchildren Morgan Rich, Ian Rich and Sidney Rich; sisters Judy Erickson, Connie (Steve) Hallman, Carol (Larry) McNutt; and 4 nieces and nephews; 5 grand nieces and nephews. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents Elmer R and Dorothy A Jett. The Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00pm March 20, 2018 at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N Latah St. Boise, ID 83706. Pastor Jason Cahill of River’s Edge Church will be officiating. Military Services will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice.
