Eric Charles Roper

January 18, 1972 ~ March 23, 2024 (age 52) 52 Years Old

Tribute

Eric Charles Roper, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Born on January 18, 1972, in Pocatello, Idaho. Eric was the second child and only son of Ted and Janet Roper. He spent his first 4 years in Pocatello before relocating with his family to Boise, Idaho, the place he loved and that he would call home for the next 48 years.

Sports, particularly football, held a special place in Eric’s heart, with the Miami Dolphins earning his unwavering support. He pursued his education at Meridian High School, graduating in 1990, before dedicating two years of missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Carolina. Eric’s devotion to his faith was unwavering, and he found immense fulfillment in sharing his beliefs and serving others, especially in the small towns of North Carolina that he was able to serve in.

Throughout his life, Eric remained steadfast in his faith and resilient in the face of many and various health challenges. His unwavering testimony and love for the Lord sustained him through every trial he had to endure. Eric was an avid Star Wars enthusiast and his passion for the iconic saga was infectious, as evidenced by his cherished Chewbacca costume and extensive Star Wars movie collection and memorabilia.

Eric worked in the customer service department of Direct TV for years and enjoyed his friends and coworkers there, where his keen intellect and technological understanding were the most evident. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, particularly his parents, sisters, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he loved very much. Eric’s playful sense of humor and love for the holidays, especially Christmas, always made it that much more special for his whole family.

Eric’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of everyone who knew him, especially his family. But we know that his spirit will forever live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.

Eric leaves behind his loving parents, Ted and Janet Roper; his siblings, Shelly (Korey) Smitheram, Angie (Tyler) Pence, and Kristi (Nolan) Wright, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. And even though he is now free from pain and suffering, his presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
