Evelyn Frances Jackson, 93, of Meridian, died on the morning of Tuesday, July 18, 2017. A viewing for Evelyn will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Relyea Funeral Chapel; 318 N. Latah St., Boise, Idaho 83706, from 6 to 8 PM. A graveside service will follow on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Dry Creek Cemetery; 9600 Hill Road, Garden City, Idaho 83714. Evelyn Frances (Gallagher) Jackson was born January 18, 1924, in Reno, Nevada. At approximately age 5, her family moved to Gering, Nebraska, and she grew up on a farm not far from Chimney Rock. Evelyn attended college in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and received her teaching certificate at age 18. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse for two years before getting married and moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Evelyn married Arthur Lee Jackson in 1944, and together they had six children. Arthur was diagnosed with M.S. early in their marriage, and Evelyn took care of him for 22 years, at the same time they were raising their family. The most important things to Evelyn were her family and Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over Evelyn's 93 years, she lived in many places. Besides those already named, she was fortunate to call Mesa, Arizona; Clearfield Utah; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Wilsonville and Sherwood, Oregon; and Nampa, Idaho, her homes. Evelyn was preceded in death by Arthur in 1974, her oldest son, Thomas, in 2007, oldest daughter, Alice, in 2013, and two daughters-in-law. Tom's & Alice's spouses, Diane Jackson of Boise and Jan Marshall of Nampa, remained devoted to Grandma Jackson. She is survived by her remaining children Leland (Julie) of Longmont, Colorado; Dwight (Jackie) of Vancouver, Washington; Micheal (Linda) of Payson, Arizona; and Wendelyn of Nampa, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful people at Meridian Care Center for their devotion to Evelyn's care these past three years.
