Farrin G. Farnworth

June 16, 1935 ~ December 20, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Farrin G. Farnworth, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 20, 2017 in Boise, Idaho. He was born on June 16, 1935 in Carey, Idaho to Henry R. Farnworth and Nettie (Gifford) Farnworth.

Farrin lived in Carey and later moved to Meridian, Idaho at an early age. He worked as he grew up on his father’s farm. He graduated from Meridian High School. During school, Farrin loved sports and lettered in basketball. He served a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States Mission. Upon returning, Farrin met the love of his life, Jeanie Griffith, and the two were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 1, 1958. They were happily married for 59 years and blessed with 5 wonderful children - Michael, Sherie Lynn, Janeen, David Glen and Julie Ann.

Shortly after they were married, Farrin attended Boise Barber College in Boise. After graduating, he worked as a barber with his father in Eagle, Idaho. But his love for farming and the outdoors were much more appealing to Farrin. He began working full time on his father’s farm and later got a job at Merrill’s Egg Farm. Farrin worked hard his whole life and later became a partner with Reid Merrill in Eagle. The two had a great relationship while working together, and Farrin retired in 1991 after 26 years.

Farrin always was a hard worker, raising cows and farming on the side while working at the egg farm. He always used his mind and could fix almost anything. With the wide variety of machinery on his farms, he was in charge of keeping everything running. He never shied away from a challenge and loved to use his mind along with his hands.

Farrin served faithfully in many positions in the LDS Church, including serving as Bishop of the Eagle 1st Ward in Eagle, Idaho. He also served as Bishop of the first singles ward in Emmett, Idaho. Farrin worked in the Boise Temple for many years, and he and his wife served a full-time mission for the Church in the Atlanta Georgia Mission.

Farrin also served his community as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Eagle as well as Crimestoppers. He also worked with the Guardian program, helping elderly people with everyday living.
Farrin is survived by his wife Jeanie, son Michael (Angie) of St. George, Utah, daughter Sherie (Dan) of Middleton, Idaho, daughter Janeen (Jeff) of St. George, Utah, son David (Lisa) of Draper, Utah, and daughter Julie of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Farrin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry R. and Nettie Farnworth, his brother Alma R., brother Donald J., and sister Lois Anne Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at the Eagle LDS Chapel, 700 E. State St., Eagle, on December 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at the church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral at Dry Creek Cemetery.

The family would love to thank Signature Hospice and the Emerson House for the love and tender care they showed Farrin.
