Geraldine Margaret Draper
November 28, 1933 ~ January 30, 2024 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Our Loving mother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 30th, 2024. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on November 28, 1933 to William James Murphy and Leola Dora Shelton. She spent several years as a child living in Montana. Mom had one sibling, a sister born in 1921 and her name was Eleanor Murphy who died in 1981. Their father worked for Safeway Stores and traveled where needed. Mom moved to Boise, Idaho while in the second grade. She attended Garfield Elementary School, where her three children also attended. From there she went to North Junior High, and graduated from Boise High School with honors in 1951. She graduated forty-third in a class of over four hundred. Mom loved school and had many friends. She went to work the day after graduating, at Syms York Printing Company, in the letter shop. She married Clarence (Chuck) Eugene Beberness in 1953. She had three children before their marriage dissolved in 1962 Scott E. Beberness, Randall J. Beberness, and Joni L. Reininger. She later married Rex E. Draper in 1972, Rex passed away in 2005. Mom worked at Capitol Title from 1962-1976, where she made many lifelong friends.
Mom had two beautiful German Shepards that served in World War Two. One was killed in action, and the other one went home after the war with a serviceman. Mom had two gold stars displayed in the front window, indicating they had someone serving in the war. We all enjoyed hearing mom's life experiences. Especially the one she told after the war ended in 1945, when all the schools and businesses closed. Everyone gathered in downtown Boise and celebrated in the streets. She said it was very exciting to see everyone so happy. Mom absolutely adored dogs and always had one or two. They loved her dearly.
Mom loved to sew, and made many dresses before she began to work. In the fifties, women had to wear dresses to work. Mom also enjoyed baking and often made her grandkids cookies and cakes. She also made other craft items for sell in her booth for eleven years, at the Eagle High School Christmas Bazaar. Our families always looked forward to mom's homemade baked goods during the holidays, especially her pumpkin bread. Mom is survived by her three children, six grandchildren (Patty Nielsen, Austin Welsh, Steven Beberness, Cameron Beberness, Jerome Reininger III, and Ben Shewmake), and six great grandchildren. Our beautiful mom is no longer with us, but we have many great memories held close to our hearts. We miss you mom but know we will see you again. Love you mom.
