September 15, 1947 ~ September 16, 2022 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

Gordon William “Bill” Stone, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, September 16, 2022, at home in Boise, Idaho. “Bill” was born September 15, 1947, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary “Lynette” Shea. He is also survived by his siblings, Dennis (Karen) Stone, Sharon (Jim) Schaffer, Robert (Dianna) Stone and Kevin (Dana) Stone; children, Shelly Barney, Daniel (Meredith) Stone, Ryan Stone, Cameron (Emily) Stone; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Nora Thompson Stone-Campbell and his father Gordon Young Stone.

Bill grew up in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, where he worked in the “Stone’s Service Store” stocking shelves and delivering groceries. Every chance he had, Bill would be sure to go back to the Raymond Parade on July 1st to visit with friends and the many cousins who still lived there or came back for the festivities.

Bill was retired from AraMark Uniform Services in Concord, California, after a 27-year career in route sales. After retiring in 2005 and moving to Boise, he drove a school bus for West Ada School District and especially enjoyed the Kindergarten children.

Bill was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a 2-year mission in the California North Mission from 1967-1969. He attended Brigham Young University, LDS Business School and Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Bill served in many callings, but his favorite was either Ward Clerk or Executive Secretary, which he served under several Bishops and in different Wards. He also loved to dance and had the opportunity to serve as Ward, Stake and Regional Dance Directors numerous times.

Bill loved to spend time with his family and travel. Boating was especially a treat when the opportunity allowed. In recent years, he was under doctor’s orders not to drive a vehicle but insisted to the very end that he was a safe driver with at least a million miles under his belt.

Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all those who looked forward to seeing what “crazy socks” he had on today!
