Harold Dewayne “Pete” Hintze, 74, of Boise, Idaho, passed away, Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Boise.
Harold was born July 20, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elmer Ray Staley and Vitta Marie Kankleburg. He was married Gae Lynn Jessen on May 29, 1965 in Sevier County, Utah. They were sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1986, including 3 combat tours during the Vietnam War. His military service achievements include: five Purple Hearts, The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and United States Army Aviator of the Year 1978. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Troy State University.
Harold is survived by his four children and eleven grandchildren, Denna Hintze and her husband Knut Are Romann-Aas, Mitchell Hintze and his wife Aroha Hintze & their children: Blaise, Mason, Talon, Logan, and Brecken, Ginger Kline and her children: Meghan, Jeremy, Sophia, and Felicity, Jeff Hintze and his wife Amy Hintze and their children: Thomas and Nicklaus. He is also survived by brothers, Brent & Dennis, as well as his sister Rebecca.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, March 15 at Relyea Funeral Chapel 318 North Latah, Boise, Idaho 83706. Committal will follow at 1:00pm at The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Memorials made in Harold’s name should be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
