Helen Arlene Taylor

May 1, 1934 ~ August 9, 2018 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

Helen Arlene Taylor went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2018. Helen was born on May 1, 1934, in Calhoun, Missouri, to Susan Emiline and James Edward. As the youngest of 10 children, she was the apple of her mom and dad’s eyes. As a young girl, she enjoyed being in the kitchen with her mom and helping out her dad on the farm.

Helen met Paul Ed Taylor in 1950. They quickly fell in love and got married after knowing each other three weeks. They were married 64 years until Paul passed away April 4, 2016. From that union, they had two daughters, Sue Ellen and Cathy Arlene. She adored her daughters and made sure they were dressed nicely and had their hair just perfect always.

She was a dedicated beautician for over 45 years. She enjoyed doing hair and even had her own salon in her home in Weiser, Idaho. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters. Her best times were spent in the kitchen cooking wonderful meals and baking amazing desserts for her family and friends. You could often find her cooking with her grandchildren. Her all-time favorite dessert was pie. When asked what kind of pie she liked best, she would reply, “hot or cold pies.” She would bake pies and desserts often to take to friends or members of her church. Her husband Paul would always ask if the dessert was for him or if it was to take someplace.

She was known for an immaculate house. At home, she was always seen with a rag in her hand cleaning something. Her family would joke that they could eat off her floor, and in reality they probably could have. Helen also loved flowers, and that showed in the beautiful yards that she had. One “flower” she disliked were dandelions, which she called “yellow heads.” Helen was a lifetime member of TOPS and a devout Christian who was very active in her church. She met many wonderful lifetime friends through both.

Her best friend was Sue, her daughter. They enjoyed every minute spent with each other going shopping, cooking, and just being together. Her youngest daughter Cathy was her joy. Cathy helped her mom with everything from dishes to laundry. She was her sidekick.

Helen is preceded in death by her siblings, her mother and father, her husband Paul and her son-in-law Wayne. She is survived by her daughters Sue and Cathy, her son-in-law Robert, her grandchildren Andy (Lisa) and Kristin (Eli), her four great-granddaughters, two nieces and two nephews.

Helen is remembered for her quick wit and her funny jokes, her beautiful spirit and her loving nature. Heaven surely gained an angel on August 9.
