Loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away in his sleep on March 29, 2021 at the Valley View Retirement Center, Boise, Idaho. He was born January 14, 1937 in his parent’s house in Bay City, Michigan to the late Chester and Gertrude Tarkowski. Mr. Tarkowski married Betty Mary Lewandowski on February 2, 1957. Henry enjoyed spending many days and weeks at his cabin near the Gila Wilderness, NM. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and going for long rides in the desert and mountains looking for wildlife. In high school he excelled in science, math and sports. He later completed college while working full time raising a family and completed a Master’s degree in Engineering Science. He was also quite the accomplished farmer on our small Kansas homestead for about 9 years. He started working at the age of 8 selling newspapers. He had a long and distinguished work history in many fields including; Dow Chemical, General Electric, the defense industries and his most rewarding career working as a DOD employee for the US Army with his final position being Deputy Director of Combat Developments at Fort Bliss, TX. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50+ years Betty Tarkowski; his second wife of 10 years Jean Tarkowski; his parents; his sons, Jerry and Randal; his brothers, Daniel and Leonard; and his sisters, Isabel and Angie. Mr. Tarkowski is survived by his sons, James, Joseph, and Ronald; granddaughters, Kimberly and Emily; and grandson David.
The Tarkowski Family will attend a private memorial service Monday, April 5, 2021, 2:00 p.m., at Relyea Funeral Chapel.
