Iletta Sharol Dodson Stewart, 84, of Meridian Idaho, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend went to be with her Heavenly Father, November 5, 2023.
Iletta was born November 4, 1939, to Theodore Dodson and Zena Dodson in Moulton, Iowa. She was very small and was born a month early. She was a preemie and back then they kept her in a shoe box in the oven to keep her warm. She had an amazing family who helped raise Iletta. She had 6 siblings Darlene, Phyllis, Vernon, Virgil, Harold, and Thelma.
When Iletta was a little girl, she would go to the neighbors and ask if she could borrow some flowers. This made me chuckle. She did love flowers and gardens.
At the age of 18 she met the love of her life Gary Stewart and married him July 19, 1957. They had four kids Penny, Garylee, Renee, and Danny. She taught them many things in life. Some of those were to be yourself, to have respect, to be tough, and to love unconditionally.
Iletta worked for the Boise School district as a teacher's aide helping children with learning disabilities. She was very good at what she did, always working hard and retired after 26 years. She was a strong-willed woman who could be spicy at times. But her love for others is what we will always remember.
After retiring Iletta kept pretty busy with her grandchildren and great grandchildren by attending sports, dance recitals, choir programs, church activities, BBQ’s, family reunions, birthdays, camping, and more.
She absolutely loved getting together with friends and family. She loved her ladies’ nights playing bunco, cards, and really any games. She loved to win no matter what. Lol
Iletta loved the holidays. Christmas Eve has and will always be the family tradition that has a special place for many of us. She loved having everyone over Christmas Eve. So many great memories, beautiful decorations, lots of delicious food, good company, Christmas carols, caroling, and so much more. For many years she made Christmas magical.
She loved to sing you are my sunshine. She was our Sunshine! She would say I love you a bushel and a peck and hug around the neck. Her favorite color was pink, and Iletta loved to get all dressed up. She loved getting her hair done and always had her makeup on.
Iletta made the house a home; she was the best cook, baker, and she loved feeding anyone who stopped by. We often told her she should put together a family favorites recipe cookbook. Her desserts were amazing and well. She did love her sweets.
Iletta loved to serve others and showed her family what unconditional love is. She passed away knowing she was loved.
Iletta leaves behind (husband) Gary Stewart, (son) Garylee Stewart, (son) Daniel Stewart, (daughter) Renee Yehle, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
