Irene LaRue Crook

May 15, 1950 ~ February 3, 2021 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Tribute

On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, we lost our beautiful mom and grandma, Irene LaRue (Simons) Crook as she passed away peacefully in her home after a short battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Irene was born May 15, 1950, in Boise, Idaho to Wallace Harold Simons and Doris LaRue (Sherman) Simons.  She grew up in Victor, Idaho, and spent her life dedicated to her education and caring for others.

In 1984, she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and then furthered her education to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1990 and a Master of Social Work in 2010.  She spent her career working as a Social Worker and Court Visitor for elderly and disabled adults.

Irene had a love for horticulture and attended master gardener courses to become an expert in all things plants. Regardless of the season, she always had a variety of plants, vegetables, and flowers growing around her home.

She had a large family with her four children, their spouses, and thirteen grandchildren.  In recent years, she felt she did not have enough to do and decided to broaden her world by hosting a number of exchange students.

She is survived by her children, Todd Crook (Tami), Shane Crook (Katie), Kim Channpraseut (Sophap), Liza Crook (Frank Houser), and twelve grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and grandson (Jason Crook).

Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private memorial service will be held.  The services will be available to stream online at the link below.
