Janice Lee Mauss Hendry

March 28, 2022

Tribute

Janice Lee Mauss Hendry passed away peacefully at home on March 28th, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s.

Janice was born on June 5, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leonard Vernon and Margaret Esther Mauss.

In 1945, her family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where Janice attended school, and in 1957 graduated from Twin Falls High School. After high school, she attended BYU for 2 years where she served as a member of the University sponsored AFROTC, Angel Flight.

In the summer of 1960, Janice met Air Force Captain Dale J Hendry and the two quickly formed an unbreakable bond. Later that fall, Janice was called to serve as a missionary in the West German Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Janice loved her mission and the people she served.

On September 28, 1961, Janice married Dale J Hendry in Duesseldorf, Germany, followed by a temple marriage in London, England on October 2, 1961. They had 5 children. The two spent the next 60 years loving, working, and serving together. Their example was a great inspiration to their children, their extended family, and to all who knew them. Janice was an excellent cook and had a great sense of adventure. She loved the outdoors like snow skiing at Sun Valley, waterskiing at Redfish Lake, and camping in the Idaho mountains. She had unconditional love for her family, and her gentle smile and encouraging words always had a way of lifting your spirits.

Janice had a true and loving servant heart for everyone. She was very active in her church where she had many callings. She was always there to help someone in need whether it was taking a meal, providing comfort, or just being a friend. Janice was beautiful, confident, and admired by all.

Janice is survived by her husband, Dale J Hendry and her 5 children, Ben (Staci) Hendry, Becky (Bret) Connor, Brenda Owens, Debra Dawson, and Christopher (Janice) Hendry, 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents Leonard Vernon and Margaret Esther Mauss, her sister Marlene Mauss Bauer, and her brother Gregory Mauss.
