Katherine Joy Fletcher of Meridian passed away on July 5, 2020 at the age of 48. “Kathy” leaves a legacy of love and her light which could shine blindingly brilliant. Her love and light are the greatest qualities Kathy portrayed and shared, along with the love for her children, spouse, passions and her love of life. While we know her spirit has moved on and her brilliant light and contagious and beautiful laughter she had a such a gift to possess and share is blinding and blessing heaven now, we can still feel it here on this earthly side of the veil.
Kathy was born October 6th, 1971 in Everett Washington to Linda Fay Ostler and Arnold Wilson Clifford. Kathy comes from a big family with 12 siblings. And being a sibling located in the middle of a family made up of seven brothers and five sisters, she developed awesome fighting skills and an ability to love and nurture as well. Since she was a little girl Kathy has been quick to smile with an upbeat disposition and beautifully contagious laughter. She has always been a girly girl who loved dolls even though her sister would tear the heads off. As a teenager Kathy was a fun-loving vivacious individual who loved cheerleading and spending time with her friends. At the age of 19 Kathy married Lonny Loughney and in that marriage of 25 years she was blessed with 5 beloved children Ethan, Jauphlynn, RyeAnn, Shourie, and several years later her youngest son Guyden. Being and mother and grandmother, a “Glamma” as Kathy often pointed out is also one of Kathy’s legacies, she has given us. Kathy has been the sounding board for her children and has constantly loved them unconditionally. She spent all her time as a mother making sure her children were well taken care of and watched out for. A trait she carried forward with her 10 grandchildren brought into her life by her children and stepdaughter as well. In August 2015, Kathy met Matthew (Matt) Fletcher and they were married August 5th, 2016 in Cannon Beach, Oregon on the beach at sunset, fulfilling a dream which Kathy had always had. Being married on the beach was something Kathy had always wanted. On September 2nd 2017, Matt and Kathy were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, fulfilling a dream to be sealed to her soulmate and best friend. This friendship and love are something that both Kathy and Matt felt very strongly preceded birth for both of them. In their time together of almost four years of marriage they only spent three nights apart from each other and worked to support each other’s endeavors on almost a daily basis. With Matt, Kathy’s personality has shone through to portray her fun-loving, spunky, full of life, happy, and hysterically funny personality and love of life. She endured and laughed often at her husband Matt’s often goofy and silly personality and his antics, and brought out the best in him as well. Professionally Kathy made the decision to make her dreams come true- as she always has in everything she has wanted- by going to school and becoming a cosmetologist and later an esthetician and permanent make-up artist. Clients were often brought to tears, as Kathy was as well because of her client’s joy upon seeing a new set of eyebrows where before there had been little or none. Kathy understood as very few can, how simple beauty can make such a huge difference in peoples lives and she treasured the time and abilities she was able to share with her clients. Behind the chair she was truly alive, her light showed brilliantly, and her laughter lit up the room. She started her business from the ground up and showed that perseverance is the only true way to really succeed at anything in life. It has been noted by so many of Kathy’s clients that no matter what Kathy was doing to help them feel and look fabulous, they always left her salon and day spa feeling uplifted and loved after being with Kathy. One could not just sit in her chair at the salon and leave without having felt of her love for others.
Kathy is survived by her mother Linda, her spouse Matt, 10 Siblings, 5 Children, 3 stepchildren, and 11 grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who have all been blessed to share in the light of Kathy’s life and are better because of it.
