La Rae Hemenway, age 82, passed away on June 12, 2020 in Boise, Idaho, with her family by her side. She was born October 17, 1937 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Frank D. and Henrietta Christensen and was preceded in death by her parents.

La Rae attended school in Pocatello, and in her senior year, her family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, where she graduated from Blackfoot High School. She then went on to attend Idaho State College, where she majored in Music. Soon thereafter, she meet the love of her life, Jack Hemenway. One year later, they were married. After Jack’s graduation, they moved to Fort Hood Army base, where Jack had to fulfill his ROTC requirement. It was not long after that they had their only child, Douglas Hemenway.

La Rae loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She took many private lessons and participated in many vocal competitions. La Rae took many honors with her soprano voice and would always sing as she worked around the house, filling the room with her sweet voice.

La Rae is survived by her husband Jack B. Hemenway of Boise, Idaho, her only son Douglas J. Hemenway of Nampa, Idaho, and her grandchildren Tony Lowe, Tara Andoe and Skyler Hemenway, as well as her two sisters, Carol Whitehead of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Joyce Evans of Cedar City, Utah.
