LaVon Bonnie Erickson

August 7, 1934 ~ January 5, 2019 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

LaVon “Bonnie” Griffiths Erickson passed away on January 5, 2019 at her home in Boise, Idaho. She was born on August 7, 1934 in Weston, Idaho, to Jesse William Griffiths and Bertha Loretta Olsen. She attended school in Weston and graduated from West Side High School in nearby Dayton, Idaho. She left Weston to work in Logan and then Salt Lake City and then attended Brigham Young University. It is here that she met the love of her life, Karl Gaylord Erickson. They married in the Logan Temple in 1957. While attending BYU, their first child was born. After graduation, they moved to Boise, where three more children joined their happy home. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where their last child was born and then moved back to Boise in 1968. Bonnie, along with her family, was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her giving service and strong love of the Savior was felt by all who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family, and she was especially thrilled when a new grand or great-grandbaby arrived in the family. She loved music, sewing, reading the scriptures and making her house a home. She enjoyed some time working in the library at Borah and Boise High and at East Jr High in the Boise School District. She also cherished being an ordinance working the Boise Temple for eight years. In 2011, she was diagnosed with kidney failure and underwent dialysis, through the care and provision of her loving husband, for seven years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Elayne Dewey and Kathleen Loosle; her brother Jesse Griffith Jr.; and grandchildren Kassi Jo VanVliet, Tyler Durrant and Camilla Erickson.

She is survived by her husband Gaylord Erickson; daughters Suzanne Floyd (Greg) and Lynette Dodge (Gene); sons Todd Erickson (Diane), Brad Erickson (Sheri) and Dirk Erickson (Heidi); 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers Reed Griffiths and Michael Griffiths; and sisters Loretta Taylor and Rhea Godfrey.

Friends and family members may attend the funeral service on Saturday, January 12, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 701 S. Curtis Rd., Boise.
