Leila Fredrickson Hansen

Leila Fredrickson Hansen passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home in Boise. She was 89 years old.

Leila was born February 25, 1929 in Declo, Idaho, the 4th of 9 children born to John D. Fredrickson and Sabina B. Thorne. Her father was employed on the Minidoka Dam canals and waterways.

In the spring of 1950 she boarded a Greyhound bus driven by John C. “Cal” Hansen of Boise, who noticed her. Their marriage that summer was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They operated a small store for a time, then bought a series of farms in Kuna, Mora, and Star, before moving to Hamilton, Montana in 1966 and purchasing Deffy's Motel. They were members of the Eagle Riding Club and loved the outdoors, especially fishing and trail riding in primitive areas. 

Leila was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served with her husband for many years in the Idaho Falls and Boise temples. She was preceded in death by her husband, and is survived by sisters Carol Trott of Dennis, Massachusetts, Beth Chugg of Boise, Teresa Brandebourg of Twin Falls, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Special thanks is extended to grandnephew David B. Chugg who gave faithful and caring service to her in her final years.

Friends may gather for a viewing at noon on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Relyea Funeral Home, 318 N. Latah, Boise, followed by interment at Dry Creek Cemetery.
