Lois Mariah Wells passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, of natural causes. She was born July 19, 1922, in Brigham City, Utah, to Aaron Baird Jeppson and Helen Harriet Guymon.
Lois married Leland Hatch September 15, 1942. They enjoyed 44 years together until his passing in 1986 due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Lois married Fred Wells in 1989. They enjoyed 29 years together until her passing. Lois was 96 years young.
Lois was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including relief society president. Service was her watchword and filled her life with joy. She loved being in the temple and served its Boise Temple for over 13 years.
Lois was an amazing woman who loved her family, loved the mountains, and created beauty with her gardens wherever she was. She always strove to live a righteous life. Her example and strength will always be remembered, and she will be sorely missed.
Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Leland, and two daughters, Terry Lee and Susan Keel. She is survived by four children, Ellen Kane Esquivel (Boise), Leland Dennis Hatch (Los Angeles), Darlene Law (Kuna), and Steven Hatch (Boise). Lois had 24 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a public viewing on Friday, November 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, November 17, 11:00 a.m., at the Warm Springs Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2290 Warm Springs Ave., Boise, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. before the service. She will be interred in the Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise.
