Lynn Jay Mortensen

Lynn Jay Mortensen, age 56, of Meridian, died June 9, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

Lynn was born on May 6, 1962 in Payson, Utah, first son and third child born to Lorraine Jones and Jerry Orlando Mortensen. Lynn has lived in Utah, Ohio, Colorado, Ireland and Idaho. He graduated from Meridian High and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from BSU. Lynn served an LDS mission to Ireland, worked in insurance, dairy and many years as a buyer for Sysco Foods.

Lynn is survived by his parents Lorraine and Jerry Mortensen of Meridian. He was married to Sheral Johnson for 27 years and had seven children that live in the Boise area. They are: Natasha Van Curen (Aarin Van Curen), Jacob (Emily Mortensen), Isaiah, Zachariah (Jackson Mortensen), Miranda Wilson (Brendan Wilson), Eliza and Samuel. Lynn is survived by grandsons Ezekiel and Elliott Van Curen and Zander Mortensen, with a granddaughter on the way. Lynn is survived by siblings, Terri Thomas, Brenda Cannon and Max Mortensen.

Lynn’s greatest joy was his children. He was an excellent cook, an Eagle scout, a skier and rafter. Lynn was a blessing to our family and will be greatly missed, but we find peace in the memory of his fun-loving nature, generosity and love.

Funeral will be on June 16, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at the LDS Chapel at 11918 W. Ustick Road in Boise; friends greeted at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
