Margaret R. Storrs

April 29, 1943 ~ October 27, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Our sweet wife and Mom, Margaret Rose Storrs, passed away peacefully in Boise, ID, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age of 78. She was born in Nampa, ID, on April 29, 1943, to the late Frank Louis and Margaret Lau (Rose) Hook. Margaret grew up and graduated high school in Caldwell, ID, and went on to get her Associates in Music from Ricks College. Margaret worked for many years as a Legal Secretary for The Idaho Statesman and various law firms, retiring from Westberg, McCabe and Collins.

Margaret married the love of her life, James Russell Storrs, Jr., on February 27, 1971. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple on August 4, 1972. There was no denying her love for the 7 children and many grandchildren they shared. Her long tight hugs were something that will never be forgotten; she never wanted to let go. Her quick wit and radiant smile were a pleasure to behold. One of her great joys was hosting dinners, playing card games, and building puzzles with her family and friends. Her holiday rolls were undeniably superb. She delighted in harvesting fresh produce from her garden and making delicious meals from nature’s bounty.

Her life was spent in service to others as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Music was her passion, beginning with piano at 3 years of age. As an accomplished pianist and organist, she took great delight in playing at church services as well as accompanying the choir and other vocalists. She also enjoyed her callings doing genealogy and teaching classes.

Margaret was a woman of many talents: seamstress, doing tatting, vocalist (including opera), creating beautiful porcelain pieces, drawing, Stampin’ Up®, and many more.

Russ and Margaret shared many wonderful adventures, traveling the United States, including Hawaii, as well as Canada. Many of their travels were to visit family. They loved nothing better than getting in the car and exploring new roads to see where they would lead. One of their favorite destinations was the Oregon Coast to watch whales and storms and to build jigsaw puzzles. Family members often joined them in their travels.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband James Russell Storrs, Jr.; son Gary Walter Storrs of Boise; daughters Stephanie Lynn Storrs (Kevin) of Parma and Mikaela Ruschelle Manglona of Toney, AL; stepchildren Stephen Bradley Storrs (Kris) of Wildwood, MO; Pamela Miller (Terry) and Valerie Storrs Hatcher (Keith) of Meridian; her brother, Michael R Hook of Layton, UT; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Walter Richard Hook and Frank Louis Hook, Jr., stepdaughter Cheryl Ann Putman of Boise, and step-great-grandson Andrew Hatcher of Tampa, FL.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 6, at the LDS church located at 701 S. Curtis Rd., Boise. The Viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, November 5, at Relyea Funeral Chapel located at 318 N. Latah St., Boise.
