Michael Monroe Gollaher

June 5, 1953 ~ July 4, 2022 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Michael Monroe Gollaher, born on June 5, 1953, at 69 years old, found his freedom from the chains of this world appropriately on the 4th of July, which was his favorite holiday. Thankfully, all of his children, their spouses and many grandchildren were able to be there with him before his passing. He had been diligently cared for by his loving wife during his extended illness.

Michael was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Monroe and Nancy Gollaher. He was the oldest of 4 children. They settled in Boise, Idaho when he was 12 years old and graduated from Borah High School in 1971. He joined the army with his lifelong friend, Bruce White, and was stationed in Fort Hood Texas as a physical therapy assistant, where he met his future bride, Nancy Faidley. They were married on December 30, 1976 and then sealed for eternity in the Provo Utah Temple in 1978. They also returned to Idaho that year where he attended Boise State University and joined the Idaho Army National Guard. While in the guard he was a public affairs officer. He proudly served his country in the Desert Storm War and Bosnia. His military career also allowed him to travel to many other locations but his heart was always at home in Idaho with his family.

Michael deeply enjoyed serving his country but also had a passion for baseball, genealogy, music, philosophy, politics and the outdoors. He loved serving as an umpire for little league baseball throughout the years. He was also very devoted to working on family history and served a senior mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints working in the family history center, helping others with their genealogy. In his spare time, he could be found playing his guitar and singing with family. He loved reading any books he could get his hands on or being in the mountains with his children. He was also proud of his time volunteering with the Republican party. Above all though, Michael and Nancy have felt that their greatest accomplishments and blessings have been their 5 children and their families.

In addition to Nancy, Michael is survived by his children: Khera and her children, Russell, Westley, Gabriel, Sara and William “Jimmy;” Khimilee, her husband William Martin, and their children Wayne, Maia, Saraia, Ammon and Calvin; Krysten, her husband Kevin Christensen, and their children Keiko, Kassie and Karter; Monroe, his fiancé Julia Holmes and her daughter Abbey; and Bryan and his wife Kaia Weiss-Gollaher. He is also survived by his siblings, Kevin Gollaher, Mark Gollaher, Erin Taylor and David Luong.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 12040 W Amity Rd, Boise, Idaho 83709, at 11:00 am.
