Mona Diane Elson

Mona Diane Elson (Luther) passed away on Thursday January 13th, 2022, from Pneumonia caused by Covid-19 at the age of 60 in Boise, Idaho.

Mona was born in Pennsylvania on June 3rd, 1961, to Merle and Delores Luther. She had four siblings, Merle, Merlyn, Mike and Marsha.

Mona attended Capital High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1979.

Mona loved horses, having several as a child. She talked about them very fondly throughout her entire life. She also looked back gratefully on the time she spent growing up with her siblings. She loved any opportunity to get to do things with her older brothers.

In her early adult life, Mona loved doing anything outdoors. You could often find her camping, swimming, working on cars and spending time with her friends. Her friends will be quick to tell you she was always willing to push the limits.

Mona was a hard worker and never backed down from learning a new skill. She quickly excelled at the jobs she worked throughout her life. Typically elevating to the higher levels of the company.
Mona will forever be remembered for her love and acceptance. She was so welcoming to all that needed it. She was understanding to the misunderstood and she was wiser than we can hope to become.

Mona is survived by her children Danielle Checketts and Trevor Elson; her stepchildren James Daniel, Shanell Elson, Leeroy Daniel and Chris Daniel; her siblings Merle Luther, Merlyn Sturgell and Marsha Becker; siblings in law and closest friends Karen Luther, Jim and Marlene Elson; her oldest and dearest friend Henry Takagi.

Mona had many angels awaiting her arrival including her husband Donald Elson, her brother and best friend Mike Luther, her grandson Holden Lund, her stepson Brandon Elson and of course, Tom Petty.

Service will be held January 29th, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel.
