Richard Allen Lee passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Edgewood Spring Creek Memory Center. Born in 1937 in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was a son of Dorothy Francis Walters and Robert Wellion Lee of blessed memory. He spent most of his life living in Meridian and Cascade Idaho. At the age of 16, Richard joined the United States Air Force in order to send money home to help his mother and siblings. During his service between 1953-1957 he was stationed in Alaska and later in Mountain Home, ID. He met the love of his life, Nola Sharon Schwerd, in Meridian, Idaho while stationed in Mountain Home. Richard was a devoted family man and after his discharge from the United States Air Force he worked alongside his father inlaw, Edward Schwerd, at Meridian Meat Packers learning the craft of meat processing. He furthered his career as a USDA Meat inspector and after 34 years he retired. One of his greatest accomplishments was being a local and regional Union President for the Meat Inspectors of Idaho. His hobbies included: Grilling Steaks, watching Football, dancing with his bride, listening to 50’s music, snowmobiling, ATV’s, avid bowler in his mid life, Fishing, caring for the property in Cascade, long walks in the mountains with Little Bit, and spending winters in Phoenix, AZ visiting with his daughters family and his wife's brother’s family. His death was preceded by that of his wife of 57 years. Richard is survived by his daughter Cheryl Marie Haney and her husband Steven Haney, his son Richard Allen Lee Jr., and his daughter Sandra Lee Wilkerson, nine grandchildren: William (buck), Thayne, Zack, Shaya, Lance, Caleb, Conrad, Natalie, and Chandler. 12 great children: Raylee, Dani, Bella, Emma, Lexi Nola, Nola Jean, Neiva, Presley, Marley, Wyatt, Cormac , and Lily.
A graveside service will be conducted, Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd, Boise, ID 83714.
