Rodney Russel Miles

Rodney Russel Miles, 66, passed from this frail existence September 22, 2017 due to an unfortunate accident. Rod was born March 28, 1951 in Blackfoot, Idaho the oldest child of Junior Russel and Evelyn (Johnson) Miles. He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho graduating from Pocatello High School in 1969. He then served in the Alberta Saskatchewan Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During his high school years and after his mission he worked for Nielson Upholstery specializing in automotive upholstery.
On July 25, 1974 he married Myra Lee Hall in the Idaho Falls Temple. He is the father of six children: Russel Wayne (Noel) of Portland, Oregon; Emilee Spencer (Gene) of Spokane, Washington; LeeAnn Miles of Salt Lake City, Utah; David Dean (Kendra) of Rigby, Idaho; Julie Rae Miles of Seattle, Washington; and
Janel Miles of Boise, Idaho. He is also the proudest grandfather of twelve.
In his younger years his loved climbing as high as he could on just about anything and riding fast motorcycles, eventually mellowing out to a Honda Big Red ATV. He became an avid Boy Scout Leader and served for many years in the Scouting Program. He has always enjoyed working with the youth. Hobbies included wood burning, carving, beekeeping, Dutch oven cooking and square dancing.
After his marriage he trained as a machinist under the tutelage of his father. He worked 18 years at Paul Roberts Machine Shop in Pocatello, Idaho and 25 years for Yankee Machine Shop in Boise, Idaho retiring in 2016.
During his short retirement he enjoyed working in his wood shop, gardening, completing projects for others and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, mother and his youngest sister Jane Miles. He is survived by his wife and children; his brothers Byron, Mark and Scot, a dear sister Deena Riley and many loved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2017 in the Bel Air Ward Chapel, located at 3555 So. Cole Rd., Boise. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at the Relyea Funeral Chapel and on Friday morning from 10:00-10:45 am at the Church prior to the service.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 30th in the Mountain View Cemetery Pocatello, Idaho. Rod will be buried next to his father, mother and sister thanks to the generosity of his family.
