Ronald C. Hess

November 4, 1930 ~ December 26, 2018 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Ronald C. Hess, who has seen 88 years of life in this world. He was born at home in Holbrook Idaho in 1930 to Royce and El Reva Hess, the fifth child of ten. He worked many years on the family farm, during that time, he met a beautiful 12 year old young woman who stole his heart and would hold it forever. They were separated briefly while he served in the Northwest Pacific Mission for two years. Upon his return they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all Eternity on a beautiful June day in the year 1953. While supporting his young family he loved to sing, read and teach. He sang in a barber shop quartet. Many hours he passed with his scriptures in his hands, studying the good word which he used in his third love, Teaching. For years he was called upon to teach, whether it was for priesthood or seminary, his love of the gospel was witnessed in his wisdom. Along with his love of these everyday blessings was his eternal sweetheart and wife, Doris, of 65 years. The last 12 years he sat by her side, lovingly supporting her after she suffered a debilitating stroke. They welcomed into their hearts and home six children, the youngest of whom they lost as an infant. Each of them honor his life by sharing his love of music, scriptures and teaching. He worked at downtown JCPenneys for 20 years and then went on to work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Church welfare department for another 15 years, serving the people in Idaho and Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four of his nine siblings, and his baby daughter Michelle, and a granddaughter, Delaney. Honoring his life and continuing his legacy is his wife, Doris, and his sons Ronald E. Hess (Kris), Keith D. Hess (Billie-Jo), and daughters, Melanie Tabbutt (Scott), Julie Judd (David), Kathryn Jones (Rodney).
He loved and welcomed 29 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren. Through the years and with the help of his wife, he shared his testimony of the gospel that saw him through a long life of service and dedication to his posterity and many others.
