Von Weston Bolander

Von was born March 19, 1928, in Shelley, Idaho, and passed away on September 23, 2019, in Meridian, Idaho, at the age of 91. He was the youngest son of 8 children born to George and Nora Bolander.

His family moved to Firth when he was in the 5th grade. It was there he met his future wife and eternal companion, Lorraine. They graduated from Firth High School in 1946 with a class of 31 students. They were married on September 17, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In their 70+ years of marriage, over 50 years were spent in the Boise area.

Von was a wonderful father figure who provided well for his family and could fix anything. He was meticulous in everything he did and kept a beautiful home and garden. Von was devoted to the Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a dedicated home teacher, ward and stake clerk, in a Bishopric, and various other callings. He served with Lorraine in the Nigeria Lagos mission.

Von was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; his parents; all but one sibling; son Douglas Ray; grandson Clayton; and great-grandchildren, John Swisher V and Paige Lorraine Tinker. He is survived by his brother Vance and brother-in-law Dale Christensen; children, Marlene Roscheck, Jerry, Thane (LaDawn), Cheryl (Ron) Boman, Vicky (Lance) Johnson, Denice (Scott) Thornton, Kevin, and daughter-in-law Lorie; thirty-three grandchildren; and sixty-three plus great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the LDS Stake Center on 11443 McMillan Rd., Boise. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the services from 10:00am-10:45am.
